Photos show the smashed windows at the Mandalay Bay hotel where gunman opened fire on music festival in Las Vegas

As the sun rose on the Las Vegas strip Monday, it revealed two smashed windows on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, from which Stephen Craig Paddock opened fire on a country music festival with an automatic rifle, killing at least 50 and wounding over 400:

Soon after the shooting, which began at 10:08 p.m. PDT, a SWAT team stormed the building, forced their way into his hotel room, and found the gunman already dead.

The gunman, identified as 64-year-old Stephen Paddock, had at least 10 rifles in his hotel room, which he checked into three days before the attack. Nevada is an open-carry state, and automatic weapons are legal there.

Associated Press and Getty photos show a second window broken on the same floor, where drapes billowed out of the broken glass. It's not yet clear which was used by the shooter, or why two windows are broken:

Many of the Route 91 Harvest festival's approximately 22,000 attendees were young people, including families with kids. Country star Jason Aldean was onstage performing his headliner set to close the three-day festival when Paddock opened fire.
